How the price is set.

Surface type times square footage, plus a stated minimum for small jobs. Heavy coverage or a hard-to-reach spot is called out in the quote, never on the invoice.

Not covered: Public property. Sidewalks, poles, signs and city-owned walls are the city's job. Also worth knowing: The City of Boston only removes ground level graffiti from private property if the owner signs a liability waiver -- first-come first-served, and the program stops for half of the year from mid-November to April 1. If that fits your timeline, use it. If you need it gone this week by professionals, send us the photo.

Questions owners ask.

How fast can graffiti be removed?

You hear back the same day you send the photo. Standard jobs are scheduled within 24 to 48 hours of your yes. If a tenant is already calling about it, say so and we'll try for same day.

How much does graffiti removal cost?

It depends on the surface and the square footage, which is why we quote from a photo. Small jobs carry a minimum because any job means a person, materials and a trip. You see the full number before anything is scheduled.

Does the city remove graffiti for free?

Boston does, from private property too, with an owner's waiver: ground level, first-come first-served, and not between mid-November and April 1. If the city's timeline works for you, use it.

What about the 30-day rule?

Boston requires owners to remove graffiti within 30 days of knowing about it. Your dated before-and-after photo shows when it came off.

Who does the work?

Clearslate. Right now that means a small local crew in Cambridge doing the first jobs ourselves. Any contractor we assign later has a certificate of insurance on file first.

Do you do recurring service?

Not yet. If your building gets hit more than once a season, say so when you send the photo. We'd rather talk about it after we've cleaned your wall once.

Where do you work?

Cambridge, Somerville and Boston. Elsewhere in Greater Boston, send the photo and we'll tell you whether we can get there.
